Taiwan - Day 4 - Travelling from Hualien to Taichung

It was the 4th day in Taiwan and the trio were to travel from Hualien to Taichung.
They rose bright and early and the pretty sunrise greeted them from the balcony

View of the town at sunrise
Tranquil town in the morning

After watching the sunrise, they looked longingly at the bed, wishing to jump back into the comfort of it!

Keykey loved the chandelier in the room

Keykey went exploring in the hotel - He was a sailor for the day!

As their tummies started growling, Keykey led the way to dinner
Keykey brought them to a restaurant called Wu Jiao Chuan Ban 伍角船板

Interior of the restaurant - Keykey thought that they had gone to a cave~
Unique looking place - a must go if you have not visited it before~

Yummy!

  3. Hi. There are a few ways. You can either take train from the via Taipei to hualien or take hsr from taichung to Taipei and change to tra from Taipei to hualien. Alternatively, you can get a taxi driver to drive you from taichung through cingjing and taroko gorge to hualien. That is a popular route if you want to explore these 2 places.

  6. HELLO!!!!! From Hualien to Taichung, I took the normal TRA (Taiwan Railway). It will go past Taipei along the way. Note that some trains are slower, some are faster. Look at the timings and get the faster one.

Other modes of transport which I have not tried is by taxi. It will normally go through the Taroko gorge to Cingjing and then down to Taichung. Most people who took this route will stay one night at Cingjing. I would recommend it too. Quite a nice place to explore. You can also try mixing the type of transport. eg. Take TRA to Taipei and change to HSR to Taichung/Take TRA to Taipei and take bus to Taichung.

To my knowledge, I do not know of any direct bus to Taichung.

Speed wise: TRA+HSR is fastest, assuming not much waiting time for changing of train. TRA all the way will be second fastest. Personally, I would prefer TRA all the way for simplicity
Price wise: TRA all the way cheapest. Taxi wise will be hard to estimate as it includes tour of the gorge. I am not sure of the price but a typical tour of the gorge for 5 pax is around 3k TWD back in 2011.

    Cheers,
    Keykey

  8. http://www.journeyful.com gives you US$25 off your first hotel booking to Taiwan. You also get another US$25 in rewards when you refer a friend who completes a booking.

It's the cheapest place to book your hotel to Taiwan.
